How Every Day In May Began
In May of 2006 I set a private goal for myself to workout every day in the month of May, in order to get into better physical health. I started out walking on May 1st, and soon my walks turned to jogs, my jogs to runs, and my runs into races. I lost 10 pounds, 2 inches from my waist, started sleeping better, and had much more energy throughout the day.
I excitedly told anyone who would listen about my successful challenge once May was over. Six months later I decided to do it again with a November to Remember, but this time I invited some people to do it with me. We planned one group activity a week, kept in touch with how we were doing, and had a Thanksgiving Day 5k fun run. There were 18 people who took part in the November challenge.
May 2007 brought on this website, lots of group activities, close to 100 participants from coast to coast, and some great results. The concept was the same - work out every day of the month. Many pounds were lost, some bad habits changed, some good habits started, and for many, for the first time, some fun was put into fitness.
November 2007 brought over 100 new people to the challenge with some changes to the idea of "every day." We shot for 5 days a week with 2 days off if desired. I received quite a bit of feedback that people liked the every day aspect better as they found it easier to challenge themselves.
May 2008, brought a total of just over 500 people together across the country with the shared goal of getting in better shape. To date with results reported in, EDinM ers have lost over a ton of pounds!!!
November 2008 is now upon us and we're shooting for even more participants, so spread the word!

Thank you, Brian, for all you did to make this a fun month. You were motivation enough for me! It was all right at a time I needed a boost. I do feel much better than I did in April.

You were awesome and inspiring! Thanks for a great May!
I'll still be running 5-6 times a week . . . ain't no stopping me now. You made May extra fun and for that I am thankful.

Yesterday's 5k event was perfect. Great people, great organization, great picnic, great weather. Congratulations on a job well done. Any friend of anyone's is a friend of Brian's - what a wonderful quality.

Every day in May rocks. I've been getting creative and jogging at places I'd never been to before (different lakes, trails, etc.) What a blast. I've lost 8 lbs, already and feel fantastic. I sleep like a baby and seem to have a spring in my step. My best wishes to all the other participants. Keep on rockin' everybody!
~Kyle
Thanks for your encouragement on this project! there were a few days when I didn't fell like exercising, but kept the "every day in may" message in my head which made me do it!
~Kathy
I want to thank you for your enthusiasm and drive to get all 100 of us motivated and moving this past month. I really enjoyed the challenge. Your messages were always fun to read, and your web page outstanding!
