Every Day in April
I ran a mile today. I've been running a mile every day in April hoping to get ready for Every Day In May. There were plenty of times I didn't want to do it but once I told Brian my goal I just felt I couldn't stop. I'm so glad I didn't. I can't say that running is much easier but I feel so proud that I stuck to it. To be honest that's my problem most of the time. I promise myself that I'm going to exercise or eat healthy and then as soon as it gets difficult I allow myself to give up. It doesn't matter if I just don't want to get out of bed or the M&Ms are calling to me after lunch, I find some excuse not to follow through. I was trying to figure out why I stuck with it this April (so I can do it again). I really think it's a combination of things. I had set a goal for myself but I told everyone. I'm pretty sure I would have just kept walking on that treadmill instead of running if it wasn't for people cheering me on (thanks Mary Lynn and Sandra!). Also, knowing that EDiM was right around the corner made me work harder. I wanted to know I could handle whatever Brian has planned. Most of all I think doing something every day makes a difference. I really didn't want to get up this morning but I had already come so far I couldn't fail now. Once you have a few days behind you you're less likely to break the streak. Well, I hope that you have picked a challenge for yourself and are excited about EDiM. Believe me, if I can do this, anyone can. You'll be so happy about it on May 31st!
