I know how you feel Lindsay. Although I've done a few 5Ks I've never been able to run the whole thing. Everytime I think about trying to accomplish that I tell myself I'm just not a runner. Why do I discourage myself before I've even started. We need to start telling ourselves we CAN do things. Okay, so maybe you get out of breath in less than a minute but hey, you ran a minute. Just make the goal smaller. Tell yourself you are going to run for 30 seconds. That's it. Once you've accomplished that try 45 seconds. Over a period of time you'll be able to do more than you thought. You've inspired me. I'm going to work on my goal as well. Maybe I won't be able accomplish it by the end of May but if I keep going it's only a matter of time before I'm successful. Next time when you start walking and the self doubt starts talking...Stop, take a breath, and remind yourself you can do ANYTHING!

I use to run 6-7 miles a day, now I can probably barely run 1 mile! When I first started running (back in the day), I started out with a small goal of just running a little bit, and I stuck with it for a week. Then after a week of running that certain distance or time, I'd push myself a LITTLE further for another week. Then after I got use to that, I'd do more - before I knew it, I was running 6-7 miles a day! You don't have to run as fast as you can, just start with what you can handle, no matter how long or short, and go from there! I know you can do it! :)

I would love to start jogging/running but have the same feelings you expressed - why? you'll be out of breath in less than a minute and you'll feel defeated.
